Huddersfield a Potted History: A historic and large market town situated in the county of West Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, Huddersfield at the current time is the United Kingdom's eleventh largest town, being home to a population of around 168,000 (2017). Huddersfield is placed midway between the cities of Manchester and Leeds being about 28 miles to the north-east of Manchester and 20 miles to the south-west of Leeds and it is 190 miles distance from London.

Huddersfied was documented in the 1086 Domesday Book where it was referred to as Odresfeld and Oderesfelt.

The town has a proud tradition of sporting excellence and is the home and birthplace of Rugby League, which came into being at Huddersfield's George Hotel on the 29th August 1895, when twenty two clubs split from the RFU in a dispute over the payment of players. Also in 1895 the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team was established. Their soccer club Huddersfield Town AFC was founded soon after in 1908 and is at present in the Premier League (2017), Huddersfield Town were victorious in the FA Cup in 1922 (beating Preston North End) and were also famous for winning three successive league titles in the 1920's.
