Huddersfield a Potted History: An enormous and historic market town situated in the English county of West Yorkshire, UK, Huddersfield is actually the UK's 11th largest town, boasting a population of approximately 168,000. Huddersfied was documented in the Domesday Book (written in 1086) where it was referred to as Oderesfelt and Odresfeld.

The town has a long sporting tradition and is the home and birthplace of Rugby League, which occurred at the George Hotel on August 29th 1895, when twenty two clubs split from the Rugby Football Union in a disagreement over the payment of players. The same year the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team was founded. Their soccer club Huddersfield Town AFC was founded in 1908 and is at present in the Premier League (2017), Huddersfield won the FA Cup in 1922 (beating Preston North End 1-0) and were also famous for winning 3 successive league titles.

The area has been the birthplace of several famous Huddersfield such as Chris Balderstone (footballer and cricketer), Harold Wilson (PM), film actor James Mason and Derek Ibbotson (athlete).
