Huddersfield a Potted History: A historic and large market town situated in the county of West Yorkshire, England, in the UK, Huddersfield today is the UK's 11th largest town, housing a population of about 168,000 (2017). The town of Huddersfield is positioned roughly halfway between Manchester and Leeds being about 28 miles to the north-east of Manchester and 20 miles south-west of Leeds and it is some 191 miles from London.

The Huddersfield of Huddersfield has a long tradition of sporting excellence and is the birthplace of Rugby League, which came into being at the George Hotel in Huddersfield on August 29th 1895, when 22 clubs split from the Rugby Football Union in a dispute over payments to players. The same year the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team was founded. Their soccer team Huddersfield Town AFC was founded later in 1908 and at present holds a place in the Premier League (2017), Huddersfield were victorious in the FA Cup in 1922 (beating Preston North End) and were also famous for winning 3 successive league titles (1923-26).
