Review of Huddersfield: A historic and huge market town situated in the county of West Yorkshire, England, in the United Kingdom, Huddersfield is at present the eleventh largest town (not including cities) in the United Kingdom, having a population of around 168,000. The town is positioned roughly midway between Manchester and Leeds being about 28 miles to the north-east of Manchester and 20 miles to the south-west of Leeds and is some 191 miles drive from London.

Huddersfield has a long tradition for sport and is where Rugby League was born, which happened at the George Hotel in Huddersfield on the 29th August 1895, when 22 clubs split from the RFU. Also in that year the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team was founded. Their soccer team Huddersfield Town AFC was founded a few years later in 1908 and at present holds a place in the Premier League (2017), they were the winners of the FA Cup in 1922 and were also famous for winning three successive league titles (1923-1926).

The area has been the birthplace of various notable Huddersfield including Chris Balderstone (footballer and cricketer), former PM Harold Wilson, film actor James Mason and Derek Ibbotson.
