Review of Huddersfield: A historic and huge market town located in the county of West Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, Huddersfield today is the United Kingdom's 11th largest town, boasting a population of close to 168,000. The town is placed midway between Leeds and Manchester being about 20 miles to the south-west of Leeds and 28 miles north-east of Manchester and is 191 miles away from London.

Huddersfield has been the site of two ancient forts, a late Bronze Age or early Iron Age hillfort at Castle Hill and a Roman fort at Slack (Outlane). Huddersfied was documented in the 1086 Domesday Book where it was referred to as Odresfeld and Oderesfelt.

The Huddersfield of Huddersfield has a long tradition of sporting excellence and is the birthplace of Rugby League, which happened at Huddersfield's George Hotel on August 29th 1895, when twenty two clubs broke away from the RFU (Rugby Football Union). Also in 1895 the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team was established. Their soccer team Huddersfield Town AFC was founded soon after in 1908 and is currently in the Premier League (2017), Huddersfield were victorious in the FA Cup in 1922 (1-0 against Preston North End) and were the first English club to win three successive league titles in the 1920's.

The town has been the birthplace of several well known Huddersfield including athlete Derek Ibbotson, cricketer and footballer Chris Balderstone, movie actor James Mason and former PM Harold Wilson.
