Review of Huddersfield: A historic and large market town located in the English county of West Yorkshire, In the UK, Huddersfield is actually the 11th largest town (not including cities) in the United Kingdom, boasting a population in excess of 168,000. The area has been the site of settlements for more than 4,000 years, beginning with Neolithic man and moving on through Brigantes, Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Normans to modern times. Huddersfield has been the site of two ancient forts, a Roman fort at Slack (Outlane) and an early Iron Age hillfort at Castle Hill. Huddersfied was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 where it was called Odresfeld and Oderesfelt.

Huddersfield has a proud sporting tradition and is the home and birthplace of Rugby League, which came into being at the George Hotel on the 29th August 1895, when 22 clubs split from the RFU. In that year the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team was established. Their football team Huddersfield Town AFC was founded in 1908 and is presently in the Premier League (2017), they were the winners of the FA Cup in 1922 (beating Preston North End) and were also famous for winning three league titles on the trot.
