About Huddersfield: A historic and large market town situated in the county of West Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, Huddersfield at the current time is the eleventh largest town (not including cities) in the UK, boasting a population of somewhere near 168,000. Huddersfield has been the site of two ancient forts, a late Bronze Age or early Iron Age hillfort at Castle Hill and a Roman fort at Slack. Huddersfied was noted in the 1086 Domesday Book where it was identified as Odresfeld and Oderesfelt.

Huddersfield has a long tradition for sport and is where Rugby League was born, which occurred at Huddersfield's George Hotel on the 29th August 1895, when 22 clubs broke away from the RFU (Rugby Football Union). Also in 1895 the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team was established. Their soccer team Huddersfield Town AFC was founded some years later in 1908 and is presently in the Premier League (2017), they were victorious in the FA Cup in 1922 (1-0 against Preston North End) and were the first English club to win three successive league titles in the 1920's.
