About Huddersfield: A huge and historic market town situated in the county of West Yorkshire, England, in the United Kingdom, Huddersfield is currently the eleventh largest town in the UK, boasting a population of about 168,000. The town is positioned halfway between the cities of Leeds and Manchester being about 20 miles to the south-west of Leeds and 28 miles north-east of Manchester and it is about 190 miles drive from London.

Huddersfied was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 where it was referred to as Odresfeld and Oderesfelt.

Huddersfield has a proud tradition of sporting excellence and is where Rugby League was born, which took place at the George Hotel in Huddersfield on August 29th 1895, when 22 clubs broke away from the RFU. Also in that year the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team was established. Their football team Huddersfield Town AFC was founded in 1908 and presently holds a place in the Premier League (2017), they were winners of the FA Cup in 1922 (at Stamford Bridge) and were the first English club to win 3 successive league titles in the 1920's.
