Huddersfield a Short Guide: A huge and historic market town located in the county of West Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, Huddersfield is currently the UK's eleventh largest town, being home to a population in excess of 168,000 (2017). The town is positioned roughly halfway between Manchester and Leeds being about 28 miles north-east of Manchester and 20 miles to the south-west of Leeds and is 191 miles distance from London.

Huddersfield is the administrative centre of the metropolitan borough of Kirklees and is the most populous settlement in that borough. It sits in the valleys of two rivers, the River Colne and the River Holme and these two rivers meet to the south of the town adjacent to the University of Huddersfield.

The Huddersfield of Huddersfield has a long sporting tradition and is the birthplace of Rugby League, which happened at the George Hotel on the 29th August 1895, when twenty two clubs broke away from the RFU in a bitter disagreement over payments to players. Also in 1895 the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team was founded. Their soccer team Huddersfield Town AFC was founded soon after in 1908 and currently holds a place in the Premier League (2017), they were the winners of the FA Cup in 1922 (beating Preston North End 1-0) and were the first English club to win three successive league titles in the 1920's.
